I met Suzanne by finding Allambie Orphanage through a community Facebook group.  From the first time I met her, it was clear that she was extremely passionate about her work. She has a natural sense for good character so she ensures that anyone who is to spend time around her and the kids are a positive influence.

The Allambie family is very warm and welcoming; they engage in a lot of friendly banter. From Suzanne to the children and all the helpers, I was welcomed as part of the family and truly felt that I was hanging out with my own family. Suzanne does a lot to ensure that the children are nurtured but also pushed and disciplined to achieve their full potential. The kids are very lucky in this sense, to have a mother figure like Suzanne around.

“I was also lucky enough to take part in the Climb for Allambie fundraiser where 15 thousand pounds was raised for Allambie Orphanage. I thought this was a great initiative and very fitting to see Suzanne, two of the children as well as 15 other volunteers conquer the biggest summit in Vietnam, Mount Fansipan. For me, it was a great experience that I will never forget. How often do you get to climb the highest mountain in Vietnam with 17 other positive and friendly people? It was entertaining and at the same time, inspiring to see Suzanne struggle up the mountain. Metaphorically and literally I could see how far she was willing to push herself physically and mentally for the children of the orphanage. Suzanne is a real life Wonder Woman!”

I spent most of my time mentoring and hanging out with the youngest child, Long. We played sport, had meals/drinks and talked about life. We had a lot of fun and I’ll miss the little guy. Unfortunately, I had to leave to reunite with my wife abroad but I will definitely be back in Vietnam one day to continue helping out Suzanne’s great cause
